Happy New Year! A phrase that is stated countless times around the globe annually at the end of one year and into another. You and I have probably quoted it hundreds of times ourselves. It is during this time of new beginning we think about setting resolutions for the new year and setting goals. Frankly, most resolutions seem to sizzle out by mid-February to a faded memory.
Like many of you, I was ready for the new year to begin as it puts behind us a second year attached to this pandemic we have come to know as COVID -19.
When we start out a new year with resolutions or goals, we must have a true desire to change. If you have been doing something one way for so long and it has not worked or caused dissatisfaction, we look at changing the pattern in the new year.
Sometimes, change is forced upon us like we have learned to do in the last two years as a Nation and World. However, when you really decide to change a bad habit into something positive, you and possibly others around you will be better because of that change.
We just must NEVER GIVE UP. It has been said that it takes 21 days to break a habit or change it for the better, so being 21 days are going to pass anyhow, why not resolve to do it this year and just see how things are 21 days from now.
In the book of 1st Samuel 17, we read about the account of David facing a Giant that no one else wanted to face. IN verse 48; “ as Goliath moved closer to attack, David quickly ran out to meet him”
Many of my challenges in life have seemed like Giants and yes of course, you can pray. Even David eventually bent over and picked up five smooth stones. He was prepared to fight even though it only took one stone to bring Goliath down.
As we enter 2022, you may have set some resolutions or goals because what you are wanting to change is really a giant of its own. Whether self-made or inherited, it’s still a giant that must be slayed.
If your heart is pure and really set on changing (or slaying that giant), then it can be done.
“God does not see the same way people see. People look at the outside of a person, but the Lord looks at the heart” … (1 Samuel 16:7)
Give God this next year of your life and you can have incredible stories about HIS goodness to share with the world.
NEVER GIVE UP. The Change is worth it. It really is!
