Crossroads As A Parent

There’s a moment every parent faces—standing at a crossroads, unsure which way to go. I’ve been there more times than I can count. Some decisions initially felt small—choosing a school for our kids, balancing career and family life, or deciding how much freedom to give them as they grew. Others were heavier, like guiding our children through tough seasons, facing unexpected challenges, or raising them with strong values in an ever-changing world.

I felt the weight of wanting to get it right in those moments. I didn’t want to fail my kids or make a decision that would lead us down the wrong path. But time and again, God reminded me that I don’t have to figure it all out on my own.

Proverbs 3:5-6 became my lifeline: “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.” It wasn’t always easy to trust. Sometimes, I prayed for direction and got silence. Other times, God’s answer wasn’t what I expected or wanted. Yet, He was always faithful.

I’ve learned that the key is to pause and pray before making decisions—asking God for wisdom and trusting Him to guide each step. Often, He brings clarity through quiet moments, Scripture, or even conversations with wise friends. His peace has become my compass, reassuring me that He’s in control, even when the road ahead feels uncertain.

At every crossroads, I’ve discovered that God doesn’t expect us to have all the answers. He simply asks us to seek Him first, trust His timing, and take one step at a time.

If you’re standing at a crossroads right now, be encouraged. God sees the bigger picture, even when we can’t. No decision is too small for Him to care about or too big for Him to handle. No matter which road you take, He promises to walk it with you, guiding your steps with His unfailing love.

Dads 4 Life and Studio 425 are developing a film series on Crossroads in life. It would be so awesome if you would consider joining us as partners. Take a look at this video.
